Birmingham boss McLeish delighted with Benitez

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish was happy with the start made by loan striker Christian Benitez.

The Ecuadorian striker, known as Chucho, was brilliant against Hull City on the weekend, cutting swathes through the Tigers defence and creating plenty of chances.

McLeish believes the 23-year old got better after receiving a gash on his head following a challenge with Kamel Zayatte and was delighted that he finally was able to sign his man.

"He came alive," McLeish said.

"He was on my radar a long time ago and the only chance I had to see him was on the South American shows late at night and on dvd stuff.

"I still wanted to see him in the flesh but David Sullivan wanted to take the chance and if the chairman is going to give me players, I will not argue. "He did say it would be out with budget and I am not going to argue with him especially if he is a player of that potential."
