Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce says Manchester United's defensive pairing, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, is as good as it gets.

"Defensively United are rock solid," said the former United captain. "Ferdinand and Vidic are a really good pairing.

"It would be wrong for me to make comparisons to me and Pally - I will let everyone else do that - but you can see they are two excellent players.

"Vidic is also hugely impressive in the opposition penalty area, as his headed winner against Everton a few weeks ago proved.

"His desire to go and head it is a dying art. I'd always be disappointed if I didn't score eight a season."
