Birmingham City are launching a surprise bid for West Ham United midfielder Lee Bowyer.
The Sun says Alex McLeish will pay £1million to land Bowyer from West Ham.
The Birmingham boss is chasing the ex-England midfielder, 31, who is set to be made available to help cut costs at Upton Park.
