Birmingham City have made a £2.5 million bid for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Garry O'Connor.

The Scotsman says O'Connor is keen to return to the UK and has also attracted interest from Fulham and West Bromwich Albion following his recent goalscoring form for club and country.

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has now followed up his initial interest with an offer which could rise to £3million should newly-promoted City avoid relegation.

A source in Russia confirmed: "A bid has been received from Birmingham City for Garry O'Connor which is being considered."

O'Connor moved to Russia last year in a £1.6million switch from Hibernian, but has failed to settle.
