Birmingham City’s bid for Standard Liege’s Milan Jovanovic has fallen over due to a transfer bungle involving player agent Barry McIntosh.
Blues boss Alex McLeish was in the crowd to see Jovanovic on international duty with Serbia against South Korea at Fulham’s Craven Cottage last Wednesday and then initiated contact in regards to a January move to St Andrews.
But it has since fallen over after it was revealed that McIntosh, who has been commissioned to do the transfer, is undergoing a legal battle against Birmingham over the transfer of Christian Benitez.
“I was about to get Jovanovic for Alex McLeish but the situation has become precarious as I’ve a legal case pending with FIFA over the transfer of Benitez,” McIntosh said.
Jovanovic is out of contract at the end of the season and it is believed that Liege have had offers from Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Panathinaikos as well as interest from Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Everton.
