Manchester City players are enjoying the 'new' man-management methods of Pep Guardiola, it has been revealed.

Guardiola biographer Marti Perarnau says the Spaniard has mellowed since his time with Barcelona.

He explained: "He is three years older, he is more mature, he is stronger mentally, and he is very direct with the players.

"He is much more direct than during his time at Barcelona. Last season, the Bayern players and Pep had a very strong relationship between them. I think this is the most important change, he is very direct with the players.

"He is less cold with them. From the first day he spoke with Joe Hart."
