Diniyar Bilyaletdinov has revealed how Russia coach Guus Hiddink influenced his move to Everton.

Bilyaletdinov's arrival at Everton ended David Moyes' 12-month battle to land him - one which saw him get a huge helping hand from Russian boss and ex-Chelsea chief Hiddink.

The 24-year-old admitted: "The boss rang Hiddink to enquire about me and I talked to Guus.

"He told me Everton would be good for my career. I understand that it's a big honour to play for this club - I feel as though I have got a lucky ticket."
