Portsmouth's cash problems have opened the door for Aussie youngster Billy Tsovolos.

The 16 year-old fullback still qualifies as a first-year scholar at Pompey, but has recently broken into Guy Whittingham's reserve-team as the club cuts loose it's fringe players.

Tsovolos, a former NSWIS graduate, impressed against Chelsea last week in their 1-0 defeat, finding himself up against highly-rated Blues stars Gael Kakuta and Fabio Borini.

Pompey have another Aussie on their books in Ryan Gazet du Chattelier.

The towering centre-forward is recovering from knee surgery after breaking down on the first day of trials at Hearts in January.
