Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros says Real Madrid captain Raul should have won the Ballon d'Or in his career.

Asked about who should win this year's title, Caparros said: "It has to be one of our national footballers. Iker Casillas, Xavi and David Villa have a chance to win it, just like Cristiano Ronaldo."

He added: "Like Raul, who should have won a Ballon d'Or because, besides being a fantastic footballer, he transmits very special values to the world of football. He is a benchmark for young people."
