Ron Atkinson has offered his advice to Alex McLeish about who he should be buying at Aston Villa.
Big Ron admits he believes a move for Birmingham City defender Roger Johnson is a bad idea.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: "I'm sure the board and Randy Lerner will provide Alex with the money he needs for some major investment between now and the start of the season.
"Two players they are already being linked with are Ben Foster and Roger Johnson at Birmingham. But while they do need a keeper and Foster is a possibility, I don't really think they should be going for Johnson.
"Villa have plenty of decent centre-halves at the club already so, for me, they shouldn't bother with Johnson.
"What all Villa fans want - and what I believe they need - is a new creative spark and talent in the middle of the park.
"Scotty Parker at West Ham, who won't be easy to get, would be a great player to bring in and I'd also like to see them maybe get James Milner back off City.
"He struggled to get much first- team football at City last season and, with the money Villa are going to get from the sale of Ashley Young, they could certainly afford to re-sign Milner."
