Big Cyrille says Odemwingie can rescue West Brom career

West Bromwich Albion legend Cyrille Regis says Peter Odemwingie can rescue his Hawthorns career.

The Nigerian infuriated fans after his failed push to join QPR last week.

Regis told the People: "He is obviously a strong- willed character for the way he seems to have tried to engineer a move, but he is going to have to be even more strong mentally now he is staying.

"People will say Albion gave him his chance, gave him a big new contract, and then he has behaved like this.

"But the move didn't happen so ultimately he will have to play. Then the question will be how he deals with the added pressure around him.

"It will come from other players. If he is sub, he might get booed while he is warming up. How does any of that affect the group?

"The only thing which will dictate what happens next will be his performances and if he can still produce on the pitch, score goals and play with 100 per cent commitment, the fans will accept that."
