Big Birmingham signing Zigic: I want to outdo Spurs striker Crouch!

Former Valencia centre-forward Nikola Zigic is delighted with his move to Birmingham City.

The striker put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal at St. Andrew's on Wednesday afternoon after completing his move from Valencia for a rumoured £6 million fee.

Standing at 6ft 8in, the Serbian international is the tallest player in England's elite division and Zigic is aiming to use his height to his advantage for Blues.

"I can't really see my height causing a problem to other players," he told bcfc.com. "I play the way I play. The fact that I am this tall is an advantage but if there is a problem with defenders playing against me we will have to wait and see.

"I aim to be a little bit better than Peter (Crouch) and use my height a little bit better maybe. I am determined to use my height and size as a strong advantage for the club."

The 29-year-old has plied his trade in La Liga for the past four years with Racing Santander and Valencia and the striker admits he is excited to be pulling on a Blues shirt.

"I am absolutely delighted to be here at Birmingham," he continued. "I have always wanted to play in the Premier League and to get the opportunity is a fabulous thing. It will be a super experience and I am thoroughly looking forward to it.

"I have been watching the Premier League for many, many years. I think being involved with it will be tremendous and I'm thoroughly looking forward to it. It's a regular thing I have watched and kept up to date with.

"I did hear through various sources the club were interested in me and what really swayed me to come over was the potential of playing for such a big club in the Premier League and the potential of playing in Europe. It was an opportunity I couldn't really turn down."
