Newcastle United fullback Habib Beye wants a long-term future on Tyneside.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "I need to play well, and have another good season. I'm not here to play one year, and that's all.

"I have a three-year contract, and my ambition is to play much better than last season. I want to progress."

In fact, Beye hopes that his solid first season has laid the foundations for him to be an even bigger hit.

"I know the Premier League now," he said, "and it's good for me to play in Newcastle.

"Hopefully, it will be a great season."
