Everton striker Wayne Rooney has been urged to give up the booze.

Rooney's latest drinking misdemeanour has seen him lose his driving licence for two years after he pleaded guilty to drink driving following a night out earlier this month.

The Everton striker has also been ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community service.

The ex-wife of Manchester United legend George Best has urged Rooney to quit drinking.

Angie told the Daily Star: “He has three children and a fourth on the way. He has got to rein it in a bit. He should give up alcohol.

“It is always the alcohol that gets them in trouble.

“It is sad when alcohol becomes a vehicle that ruins your life."
