The goalscoring record of Liverpool strikers Luis Suarez and Danny Sturridge this season is the best seen in the English top-flight since 1965. Suarez and Sturridge are not only occupying the top two places in the Premier League scoring charts but are the first pair of strikers to have bagged at least 18 goals each at this stage of the season since Blackburn's Andy McEvoy and John Byrom in 1965.
At the same 28-game mark back then, Dubliner McEvoy, an inside-forward who joined Rovers from Bray Wanderers a decade earlier, and Blackburn-born striker Byrom had chalked up 25 and 18 goals respectively.
Suarez is currently on 24 and Sturridge 18.
