Besiktas are set to sign Valencia midfielder Manuel Fernandes after he arrived in Turkey on Monday night.

The Istanbul side are thought to be close to completing a deal after opening negotiations with the former Everton man, whose compatriots Simao Sabrosa and Hugo Almeida are also believed to be on Besiktas' shopping list.

The club displayed pictures of Fernandes' chaotic airport arrival on its website and revealed the player will have a medical on Tuesday.

Reports suggest winger Simao and striker Almeida, of Atletico Madrid and Werder Bremen respectively, are also close to joining international team-mate Ricardo Quaresma in Istanbul.
