Berra expects Wolves pal Fletcher to make Scotland return

Wolves defender Christophe Berra expects teammate Steven Fletcher to return to the Scotland squad.

The 24-year-old quit the international scene in frustration last term after being continuously overlooked by national team boss Craig Levein.

Fletcher's goals proved instrumental in keeping Mick McCarthy's team in the Premier League.

"At the end of last season Steven was on form when it mattered," Berra told the Daily Record.

"He couldn't stop scoring and the goals came at the right moment.

"Everyone knows his quality. I'm a team-mate of his but I just have to respect his decision. If he wants to stand by it that's up to him. He is still young and will probably change his mind eventually, but that's down to Steven.

"I think any young player wants to play for the national team and I don't think Steven is any different.

"He just has to concentrate on his club football and I'm sure he will be back in the Scotland team some day."
