Berlusconi slams rumours around AC Milan sale price

Former AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has defended his successor Yonghong Li.

There's been claims the club was sold for €300m more than its actual worth.

“Every time I am in an election campaign and it looks as if I will be victorious, they invent all sorts of things," Berlusconi told Domenica Live.

“This one really is enormous and was promptly denied by the Prosecutor. The idea that we profited from the sale of Milan to bring capital into Italy that we had abroad is absolutely false.

“How ridiculous would it be for someone who had money outside the country to use the sale of a big club like Milan to cover it? You'd have to be really stupid to even attempt such a thing.

“Fininvest always relied on extraordinary advisors and sold the club to a protagonist of Chinese industry, who so far kept all his promises.

“He promised that the transfer campaign would involve €250m of spending and spent €240m.

“Really, you shouldn't be surprised if one day you read that I organised the murder of Julius Caesar…"
