Massimiliano Allegri has received a call from Silvio Berlusconi in the last 24 hours about taking charge of AC Milan.

A free agent since being sacked by Cagliari last month, Allegri spoke with Berlusconi yesterday on the phone and could meet with Milan officials today and tomorrow.

Corriere della Sera says Milan patron Berlusconi could make an announcement over the weekend about the club's new coach.

The Italian PM sounded out Allegri after meeting with vice-president Adriano Galliani in Sardinia to finalise the coaching appointment.
