AC Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi insists they will compete for trophies next season.

Questions have been raised over Milan's ambition in this summer's market.

Berlusconi told Oggi: "Milan are a club that has won the most trophies in the world, more than the legendary Real Madrid of the Santiago Bernabeu to whom they dedicated a stadium.

"Thanks to Milan, I am the President who has won the most in the history of football. The second is Bernabeu who won less than half of my trophies.

"Milan will return to being great and victorious again, and they will do it very soon."
