AC Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi says he convinced Alexandre Pato to turn down PSG last week.
Milan and PSG had agreed a fee for the Brazilian before his dramatic change of mind.
"I decided to keep Pato because I consider him a player of great talent," said the patron.
"I was not convinced by the whole operation, not from a tactical stand-point nor an economic one. It is a decision that I made autonomously.
"I am convinced this was the best thing for Milan."
