Dimitar Berbatov will only leave Manchester United for a foreign club.

The News of the World says Berba's career at United is coming to a close, with a route back to Germany and a possible move to Bayern Munich opening up for him this summer.

He has told his agent he does not want to play for another English club, with anyone else in the Premier League regarded as a step down.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has to take his share of the blame for Berbatov's failure to live up to his lofty billing. When he signed from Spurs, the United boss claimed the Bulgarian could follow in Eric Cantona's footsteps.
