Manchester United ace Dimitar Berbatov has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson gave him a clip round the ear after he signed his contract!
Berbatov first came to manager Ferguson's notice when Leverkusen beat United in the 2002 Champions League semi-final.
"Nobody really knew about Leverkusen until then," he told The Sun.
"When I signed my contract with United I asked Alex Ferguson if he remembered that semi-final ... he clipped me round the head."
Berbatov added: "Nobody has ever retained the Champions League and that has to be our aim.
"We are fighting for the title and working hard towards retaining that too. Against Arsenal, they were just the better team but we had our chances to equalise in the end.
"The danger is, if you don't concentrate enough you can get used to missing these chances and it could become a bad habit. So we must work on that and concentrate throughout the whole game."
For a player who learned English from watching The Godfather movies he does look unnervingly like Andy Garcia in the last of that trilogy.
And Berbatov admits that coming to Old Trafford was simply an offer he could not refuse.
He said: "You have 75,000 people supporting you every game, the most successful coach in the world and the best players in the world.
"What more could you want to try and improve? At 27, I'm in the final stage of my development as a player and to be able to do it with this team is fantastic."
