Saido Berahino ended his two-and-a-half year goal drought as Stoke City defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0 in the Carabao Cup second round.
The Potters, relegated to the Championship last season, have not started their promotion push in the best way. But fortune may be turning in their favour after Berahino scored his first goal since 27 February 2016.
Terriers debutante Juninho Bacuna then scored a bizarre own goal in stoppage-time to seal victory for the hosts.
And speaking after the game, Stoke boss Gary Rowett was delighted with his side's improvement in recent weeks.
He said: "We are getting to grips with the season now and on the back of a good performance and result on Saturday, I thought we followed that up very well tonight.
"There were moments where I still thought we needed to be better, but on the whole I don't think anybody would argue that we were the deserved winners against a good Huddersfield Town side."
