Bentley set to win fresh Blackburn contract

TheLancashire Telegraph reports that Blackburn star David Bentley will be offered a new deal despite signing an improved contract only 12 months ago.

Chairman John Williams has already held preliminary discussions with Bentley's advisers, with a view to offering the 23-year-old a major pay hike.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes will be hoping a bumper new pay deal will ward of anyone thinking of poaching the England international who has earned rave reviews this season.

Bentley is quoted with saying, "All I can say is I enjoy going to work everyday, and I enjoy playing for Blackburn Rovers. They've given me a career, and financially they've given me stability as a person off the pitch."

"On the pitch, I'm really enjoying my time, too. You just take it day by day and see how things pan out. But I'm loving being at Blackburn at the minute, so I don't really want to change that."
