Bentley hoping Birmingham loan move will kick-start his career

David Bentley endured a difficult time at Tottenham before accepting a loan move to struggling Birmingham and the 26 year old knows only time will tell if the gamble pays off. The former Blackburn winger who has three years left on his Spurs contract, faces an uncertain future but insists he holds no ill feelings towards boss Harry Redknapp.

Bentley told the Daily Mirror: "It was a difficult time at Spurs and I picked up a couple of injuries in pre-season.

"There is an abundance of talent there so it was hard to get into the team and the squad.

"Sometimes when you fall down the pecking order it is hard to get back up.

"I don't hold a grudge. There are so many decent players in the squad there who want to play.

"It has been a difficult career with some ups and downs and some wrong decisions and some right decisions.

"Hopefully this is another right decision coming here which is going to kick me on in the next five or six years to have a successful career."
