Nabil Bentaleb's representatives are pushing Tottenham to upgrade his contract.

The midfielder is tied to Spurs until 2018, but his agents believe his wages do not reflect his status within the club.

A source close to his agent told Foot Mercato: "The wages requested by the player is close to the average salary of a regular player in a Premier League club.

"A meeting between the player's agents and club management is expected next week in London because the player is determined to obtain rewards he has earned on the field.

"Serious, higher calibre clubs are ready to put on the table something for president (Daniel) Levy and the player, who would, this time, would see his salary climb exponentially."
