Bent stars for Spurs after pranging into ref's motor

Tottenham striker Darren Bent struck in last night's 4-0 defeat of Wigan - less than 24 hours after ramming the car of a referee!

The Sun says the £17million striker drove into the back of official Patrick Miller's car in a freak accident on Saturday night. But the bizarre fender bender did not stop Bent from hitting top gear and scoring in Tottenham's 4-0 rout of Wigan.

Miller was driving home to Bedfordshire after he took charge of Barnet's 2-1 win over Gillingham.

He was heading to the M25 motorway when the prang happened at 6pm.

No one was injured but Miller was surprised when he saw the other driver was the England star.

Bent swapped insurance details with shocked Miller and reported for duty yesterday with no ill effects.

A source close to Bent joked: "Darren's praying Miller doesn't work at any Tottenham games in the near future or he's had it."
