Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has made it clear that striker Darren Bent has not handed in a transfer request.
Reports suggest that the former Sunderland star was keen to depart Villa Park after being left out of Lambert's match day squad for the past two fixtures but the boss has denied that speculation, also making clear that no club had made an offer for his services.
Lambert also cleared up any speculation regarding a clause that will see Villa pay Sunderland £3million when Bent, currently on 47 appearances, reaches 50 games.
"Have there been any enquiries for Bent? No. Has he asked to be put on the transfer list? No," said Lambert.
"Is there a clause? That's not true. I'm not sure where that came from."
He added: "I answered about 105 questions (on Bent) the other night. The team I pick will be the team that will go and try win us the game and that's the way I'll always be."
