Darren Bent would like to play regularly to get into a rhythm but accepts the final decision over team selection lies with Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert. Lambert has repeatedly stated that there is no problem with Bent and that the striker will not leave in January, while the England international recognises it is up to the boss to select the team he thinks is best.
The 28-year-old told Sky Sports News: "Sometimes you'll run right and the ball will run left. It's just one of those things. I'm sure that once we start creating chances then I'll start finishing them."
Asked if he was happy with being in and out of the side, Bent added: "Not really. Obviously any player who values himself wants to play week in, week out.
"When you start playing rotation systems it is difficult to find a rhythm as such, especially when you are a front man, but it is the manager's decision and we live by that and you have to keep working hard in training and showing him that you want to play."
