Darren Bent has brushed off criticism of his hefty price tag following his £16.5million transfer to Tottenham.

The England striker's move from Charlton has been compared with Thierry Henry's switch to Barcelona for £500,000 less.

Despite his potential, the 23-year-old has yet to establish himself in the England team but Bent is not concerned by figures.

Bent told BBC Radio Five Live: "To be fair I think Barca got Thierry (Henry) on the cheap as I'd have put him in the £30million bracket, so it's surprising he went for so little money.

"It's nothing to do with me. Charlton put the price tag on my head, I'm just grateful that Spurs took it.

"I was disappointed to leave Charlton - I had a great time there but I wish them all the best."
