Joe Bennett was thrilled to step out for his full Premier League debut with Aston Villa yesterday.
The 22-year old joined Villa from Middlesbrough during the summer transfer window and played a full 90 minutes at left-back as his new club netted a late equaliser to force a 1-1 draw with West Midlands rivals west Bromwich Albion at Villa Park.
Bennett, who came on as a substitute in last weekend's 4-1 loss at Southampton, felt it was a decent performance from he and his Villa teammates and he is now looking to kick on after experiencing top flight football first-hand.
"We've got a lot of hungry players who want to do well, who will chase the ball non-stop for 90 minutes, and show a lot of energy," he said.
"I think we will do well this season. It's a massive club, massive fans to play in front of.
"It was a fantastic occasion for me, stepping up from Championship football to Premier League football.
"It's all new and a big step up but I'm ready for that step up.
"Going forward is my main attribute, to help the forwards and the midfielders, but my priority is to defend first."
