Benitez rues lack of control as Chelsea draw with Tottenham

Rafael Benitez lamented his Chelsea side's inability to kill off Tottenham at Stamford Bridge tonight.

The Blues were in a good position on two occasions to wrap up a top-four spot but twice conceded to allow Spurs to pinch a point in the 2-2 draw.

Benitez felt that his players were not tight enough and rued the fact they did not do more to see out the victory which would have all but secured third spot.

"The second half was too open," he told Sky Sports 1.

"We gave them the opportunity to counter-attack in the first half but when we were winning the game we should have had more control.

"We had four or five counter attacks to win the game and we didn't do it.

"They were pushing and pushing. Credit to Tottenham.

"On the counter attack you have to do more. we had chances to score the third goal and didn't do it."

Of Chelsea's final two matches, Benitez added: "We are still in position where have been before - we have to win one game to get in the top four.

"We will try and win both."
