Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has no doubts victory over Benfica has sent a message across Europe.

The Reds are into the Europa League semis after last night's 4-1 triumph.

Quizzed whether he felt the manner of the victory reaffirmed Liverpool's status as one of Europe's leading clubs, Benitez said: "We are one of the top sides in Europe. We have been at this level in the last few years and Benfica are another one of the good teams.

"Benfica have done well and are at the top of the table. They are a massive club and one of the top sides in Europe - there is no doubt about this."
