Rafa Benitez has told Liverpool's owners that he wants to quickly sort out his new contract.
"I received a phone call from Tom Hicks, on behalf of George Gillett too, it was positive. I said to him 'OK, we have to do it quickly because the team is doing well so I don't want to be talking about this for weeks or months. They gave me their word that there would be contact again over the next week and hopefully it will be done as soon as possible," said Benitez.
"I am in the place that I want to be. I am very happy here and I feel the team is very very strong and you can see the improvements all the time. And also there is the new stadium in the future so I want to be part of this football club.
"Yes the length of the contract is important for me because we have been improving the squad for nearly five years so clearly we know that in the future we can be contenders and we can try to win more trophies, so the length of the contract is really really important for me."
He added: "My idea is to sign it as soon as possible."
