Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is delighted with the return of Sammy Lee to the club.

"Sammy is a former player who knows this club, the fans, the city - he knows everything," Benitez told liverpoolfc.tv.

"He has experience in football so it's very positive for me to have someone that maybe if he doesn't agree with me about something, he will say 'Rafa, this is my idea'. We then talk about different things and it's very positive."

Benitez admits he loves Lee's infectious enthusiasm for the club and believes it sets a great example for others to follow.

"That is one of his qualities and he is someone who shows his passion in every training session we have and in everything he does at the club. He is a very positive person."
