A great header from the Welshman just before half time and the penalty from the Portuguese star ensured that the Whites took three points against Éibar.

Real coach Rafa Benitez stated afterwards: "The win came through teamwork, it was achieved through everyone working hard. The things we worked on came off and allowed us to break the deadlock at a difficult ground as well as pick up three points against a tricky opponent. All of the Real Madrid players played sensationally.

“Getting the three points and doing so with such a willingness to dig in was important. The key to maintaining that strength in the future is that the team show that same level of sacrifice, hard work, intensity and effort."
