Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has labelled Pepe Reina as a complete goalkeeper.

Benitez placed the Spaniard in the same class as former Manchester United shot-stopper Peter Schmeichel as the Reds prepare for Monday night's home clash with Aston Villa.

"For me, Pepe is the No 1. He's good with the ball, good in possession and at organising the defenders," Benitez said.

"Pepe was good when we signed him but he is now the complete keeper.

"A keeper can win you the title, think of Peter Schmeichel at Manchester United."
