Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is confident the club will not sell striker Fernando Torres, at least while he is in charge at Anfield.
The Spanish tactician has been under fire recently after a string of poor performances by his team and some sections of Reds fans are hopeful of bringing in a new manager to replace him.
But the club are standing by Benitez although he does he admit if they had to sell Torres, he would walk himself.
"I'm confident it will never happen," Benitez said in an interview in The Times. "If it did, I'd resign."
Benitez suggested that the club definitely needs to bring in some quality players but in the current climate it means that some current Liverpool players would have to be sold.
"We can only buy one or two big, £20 million players a year," Benitez added.
"If we want to have money available, then we have to sell some players. We have to sell expensive and buy as cheaply as possible."
