Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has challenged his top kids to push for a first team breakthrough this season.
First-team opportunities are likely to be harder to come by once the senior players return to action later in pre-season, but Benitez insists the doors will remain open.
He told liverpoolfc.tv: "You know my idea, I like to use young players, but it depends on them. You can say that you'll use three, four or five of them, but at the end of the day you can't do that if they aren't ready.
"They need to show me that they want to play in the first team."
