Benitez bemoans heavy schedule as Chelsea drop points at Man City

Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez feels his side are playing too many matches forcing him to rest key players at crucial stages.

The Blues were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City today following their tight Europa League Round of 32 second leg with Sparta Prague on Thursday and the Spaniard proposes that perhaps his side have been too busy recently to keep a group of fresh players on the pitch.

"We are playing too many games, games each three days. You have to manage your squad," he said.

"Some players have fresh legs and you can play them.

"We can manage in the three competitions. We know we can do it.

"But if we feel we need to prioritise something we will do it."

"I was not running so I am fine," Benitez quipped.

"I am disappointed because we could not win. I am just thinking about the next challenge."
