Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez insists Dan Agger's future is at Anfield.

Despite being linked with Real Madrid, Benitez said of the Danish defender: "There were some rumours about this in the press over the last week and he was very clear talking with radio in Denmark. He explained to them that he wanted to stay, he wants to play and compete for his position.

"He has no problems here and is very pleased. I also had a conversation with him and he knows that we want to keep him at the club. I was surprised to see in the press talking about Real Madrid especially with the people they said were talking because the same people at Real Madrid sent a fax to me confirming that it wasn't true."
