Benitez affirms Newcastle stance on Stoke target Ritchie

Newcastle United are not in the mood to sell winger Matt Ritchie.

Ritchie has been linked with a move to Stoke City and other clubs this summer.

But Newcastle do not want to part with a player who can be a key part of the squad in the coming season.

Ritchie managed three goals and five assists last season in 32 Premier League starts, with the majority of his starts coming as a right midfielder or winger.

"We are in the same position as we were last year. He's our player, we're happy with him and we don't want to sell him," Benitez said to Sky Sports.

"To do a move, too many things has to happen at the same time. I was talking with him this morning, I don't see any change with the situation."
