Benfica winger Ola John becomes 11th Reading arrival

Reading landed Ola John on deadline day as they completed 11 transactions for the summer transfer period.

The 23-year-old Liberian-born Dutch winger has joined the Royals on a season-long loan from Portuguese giants Benfica, arriving alongside Watford striker Matej Vydra, to make it an entire team new faces at the Madejski Stadium.

Of the arrival John, who started his career with FC Twente and has since spent time at Hamburg, Reading boss Steve Clarke told the club's official website: "The chance to sign Ola came about very late in the window but we felt it was well worth the effort to force the deal through.

"He is an attacker with power and pace, the ability to beat a man and deliver quality balls into the box and also an eye for a goal himself. With these qualities, added to the players we already have in the club, Ola should help ensure that we are a more potent attacking team this season."
