Benfica's Jesus: Europa League clash with Tottenham not priority

Benfica manager Jorge Jesus insists his club is not focusing on the Europa League this season.

The Portuguese side currently sit seven points clear on top of the Primeira Liga table and Jesus suggests that is more important than the two-legged Europa League Round of 16 clash with Spurs which kicks off at White Hart Lane on Thursday.

"It's an important game but the league is our great goal, I won't change the focus from that," he told reporters.

"The priority is to be champions again, and taking this idea into account, the league is our priority although other competitions are important too."

Benfica beat Estoril 2-0 on the weekend to move seven points clear of second-placed Sporting Lisbon who drew 2-2 with Vitoria Setubal.

The Eagles are into the Europa League Round of 16 after accounting for Greek side PAOK 4-0 on aggregate in the Round of 32 while Spurs are through after beating Ukraine's Dnipro 3-2 over two legs.
