Former youth prodigy Freddy Adu says he is still relaxed over his decision to move to Europe in 2007.
The 20-year old joined Portuguese outfit Benfica just over two-and-a-half years ago but since then has failed to gain regular game time and has been loaned out on three occasions after showing his impressive ability in MLS with DC United and Real Salt Lake.
Currently on loan with Greek club Aris Thessaloniki and after experiencing loan spells with French club AS Monaco and smaller Portuguese club Belenenses, Adu is confident he can still make the grade in Europe.
"Football in Europe is No. 1 and where it's at its best. This is why I decided to come to Europe," he said.
"I finally have a great chance to play for one of the top-class coaches (Hector Raul Cuper) in the world," he added. "I've only been here for two weeks and I can't believe how much I've learned."
Adu is set to make his debut against league leaders Panathinaikos this weekend and is excited about the prospect.
"What a great way to play your first game, against the No. 1 team in the league. I can't wait to go on Sunday," he said. "I would really, really love to be a part of that game."
