The Argentina U20 striker only signed for Benfica last week from Rosario Central in a £3.5 million deal, but within days of the move being rubberstamped he was subject of a major bid from Real, says A Bola.

The Spanish giants offered to more than double Benfica's outlay on Di Maria, but the Portuguese club chose to hold onto the youngster, whose five-year contract carries a £20 million buyout clause.
