Benfica are eyeing Manchester United fullback Matteo Darmian.
The Mirror says United value the Italian international at £15million, but both AC Milan and Napoli have deemed their asking price too high given that the player does not feature in Jose Mourinho's plans.
That has alerted Benfica, with the Lisbon giants looking to build a team capable of taking the Portuguese title away from rivals Porto.
They failed with an offer to take Darmian on loan last January.
But with Nigerian full-back Tyronne Ebuehi suffering a pre-season cruciate injury, Benfica have made contact with United again.
Darmian would prefer a move back to Serie A, but he is willing to listen to what Benfica have to offer if they agree to meet his £70,000-a-week wages.
