Portuguese club Benfica are closing in on the signature of Adel Taarabt.

According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year old Moroccan will soon complete a move to Benfica following his release from QPR.

It is believed that the playmaker Taarabt, who has been with the R's since joining on an initial loan in 2009, will sign a permanent deal with the Lisbon-based outfit after seeing his time at Loftus Road come to a close.

During his time in west London, Taarabt scored 34 goals in 163 appearances surrounded by loan spells at Fulham and AC Milan.
