The future of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is set to be settled by their friendly against Benfica.

The Daily Mail says Fabregas is on course for a stand-off with manager Arsene Wenger ahead of the Gunners friendly against Benfica.

Fabregas, 24, has recovered from a hamstring injury and is desperate to quit the Emirates for a return to Barcelona, who are yet to meet Arsenal’s £40million valuation.

Having returned to training, Fabregas is deemed eligible to travel to Portugal, leaving Wenger with a tricky decision.

Fabregas would rather stay in England this weekend, in the hope that a deal can be brokered.
