Benfica clash looms as D-Day for Arsenal skipper Cesc

The future of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is set to be settled by their friendly against Benfica.

The Daily Mail says Fabregas is on course for a stand-off with manager Arsene Wenger ahead of the Gunners friendly against Benfica.

Fabregas, 24, has recovered from a hamstring injury and is desperate to quit the Emirates for a return to Barcelona, who are yet to meet Arsenal's £40million valuation.

Having returned to training, Fabregas is deemed eligible to travel to Portugal, leaving Wenger with a tricky decision.

Fabregas would rather stay in England this weekend, in the hope that a deal can be brokered.
